The annual AT&T National Tournament, which is home to 132 of the PGA TOUR’s finest golfers, also became a landing ground for the Veteran Business Summit. MicroTech Founder, President & CEO, Tony Jimenez, served on the “Best in Class Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business - Where are They Now,” panel today with other former military members who have distinguished themselves in the business world.

The panel of federal contractors and subcontractors discussed current and future procurements and the opportunities available for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB). Other former military personnel on the panel with Jimenez were Joe Ballard, The Ravens Group; Mark “Ranger” Jones, The Ranger Group; and Emit McHenry, former owner of Network Solutions. The U.S. Army’s Director of Small Business, Tracey Pinson, moderated the session.

“I am humbled that the Veteran Business Summit invited me to speak and honored that MicroTech is classified as a best in class Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business,” said Jimenez. “In the wake of economic challenges and market changes, companies that stay afloat are constantly adjusting their structures and strategies. We continue to fine-tune to remain relevant and competitive, and I’m pleased that I could share some of our trials and lessons-learned.”

Held at the Congressional Country Club, the Veteran Business Summit was hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation in partnership with wire2netllc. Although PGA Tour Champion Tiger Woods will not participate in this year’s event due to an injury, he will still be there to support the players and the events. “The AT&T National means a lot to me and my foundation. It’s especially difficult not defending at my own tournament. It’s going to be a great event, and I look forward to being there to provide my support,” Woods told the Washington Post.

Besides the Summit and the PGA TOUR golf, there will also be a Military Care Package Tent and a We Salute Our Heroes Tribute Wall to support U.S. service men and woman. Spectators will be able to build care packages for troops deployed overseas and write personal thank you notes on the tribute wall to show their gratitude.
