MicroTech Sponsors Edgar in UFC 156

MicroTech –sponsored Frankie "The Answer" Edgar will square off against Jose "Scarface" Aldo for the UFC Featherweight title in UFC 156 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Yet what happens in Vegas doesn’t have to stay there. The match airs live at 10 p.m. (ET) on Pay-Per-View.

Edgar is the former UFC Lightweight Champion. He is a trained mixed martial artist with the Ricardo Almeida Jiu-Jitsu Association in New Jersey. After he lost the lightweight champion title to Benson Henderson last year, he decided to cut down to the featherweight division. UFC 156 is his first featherweight fight and he is looking for another Championship belt!

In a UFC pre-fight interview, Edgar said Aldo doesn’t have the mass that he is used to fighting against but he does have the energy. “To beat Jose Aldo would be to beat one of the best pound for pound guys in our game,” Edgar said. Since Edgar has been fighting some huge guys at his former weight of 155 lbs., we think he will give Aldo a run for his money.

MicroTech is a long time sponsor of Edgar. He, along with other MicroTech-sponsored MMA fighters, met veterans at various military hospitals in the Washington DC area. Edgar attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Fort Belvoir Warrior Combative Training Center, where MicroTech funded the training mats, and also visited soldiers undergoing rehabilitation with MicroTech at the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Complex, and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He signed autographs and talked with the veterans, their families, and the medical staff.

The New Jersey native has a Road to UFC 156 video blog where he took viewers on a haunting tour of the Jersey Shore after Hurricane Sandy. He is helping Restore the Shore to try to get the Seaside Heights area up and running again.

“That’s one of the reasons why we love sponsoring Frankie Edgar,” said Tony Jimenez, MicroTech President & CEO. “He is so much more than a typical fighter. He has a big heart and uses his visibility to do good things—he is a class act.”

Show your support this weekend, and watch Frankie Edgar as he proudly wears the MicroTech logo in his fight to win the UFC Featherweight Championship.
