Go CAPS!

Northern Virginia-based MicroTech has developed a strong sports sponsorship program, leading to the brand being aligned with mixed martial arts (Ultimate Fighting Championship), motorcycle racing (Supercross), professional basketball (NBA’s Wizards), pro boxing (Peterson vs. Khan title fight), and professional hockey with the NHL Washington Capitals.

MicroTech continues to be a committed partner with the Caps on their quest for a Stanley Cup, now leading to NYC’s Madison Square Garden and their next opponent, the New York Rangers.

When you visit the Capitals home ice in downtown Washington DC, look for MicroTech advertising prominently featured along the rink’s dasher boards and on the main elevator door in the lobby at the Verizon Center. The company is also the sole sponsor of the Olympia ice resurface machine — skillfully smoothing the slick skating surface after each period.

This is the third time in the last four seasons that these two competitive teams crossed paths on their pursuit of the Stanley Cup. In 2009 and 2011, the Capitals were the distinct favorites, while the Rangers were the underdog. In 2009, the Caps overcame a 3-1 series deficit and won in seven. One year ago, the No. 1-seeded Caps defeated the eighth-seeded Rangers in only five games. Now the Rangers can boast of a much better regular season record, while the Caps struggled through key injuries and the firing of the head coach.
