The Defense Department, with 1.8 million uniformed and civilian personnel working in 5,000 locations across the globe, operates a vast and sometimes-disjointed IT ecosystem that is as complicated an enterprise as any that exists today.
Throughout the department, IT teams manage operations, often piecemeal, by maintaining legacy systems alongside emerging technology. They work to sustain and integrate, to incorporate Agile and DevOps, find efficiencies in intelligent automation and robotics, and use analytics to make sense of endless data. Meanwhile, leaders follow the funding trails, aim for stability in budgets, and shape policy. The common thread throughout is the desire for speed, insight and security.
The 2018 Defense Systems Summit brings together thought leaders from throughout the DoD community to address these issues and more.
Topics of discussion will include:
- Changing culture and practices for modernization
- Meeting increasing broadband demands
- Big data/AI
- Mission-driven analytics
- Defensive cyber tools
- Securing Internet-connected devices
- Identifying and procuring emerging technologies
- Migrating to the cloud
