Over the past year, MicroTech has followed a national trend of notable growth among minority-owned small businesses. Minority-owned businesses are growing faster, creating more jobs, and producing larger revenues than they ever have before. While significant progress has been made for all minority groups within the business sector, more can still be achieved. Government programs such as 7(a) loans and the recent Government initiative with the National Urban League will continue to enable and enhance minority entrepreneurship.
MicroTech's success is nothing short of the American Dream. As the son of working class parents, Mr. Jimenez enlisted in the United States Army and worked his way up from Private to Sergeant, obtained a commission as a United States Army Officer and eventually retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Along the way Mr. Jimenez received countless awards, served numerous overseas tours (including several combat tours), earned a Bachelor's Degree, two Master's Degrees and was recognized as a "Fed 100," one of the top 100 Executives from Government, Industry, and Academia who had the greatest impact on the government information systems community.
Shortly after retiring from the Army, he founded MicroTech, an IT and network services company based on his vision "to provide better solutions that incorporate knowledge, technology and innovation seamlessly." MicroTech was recently named one of the top 100 Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned businesses by Diversity Magazine, one of the Hispanic 500 by Hispanic Business Magazine, and in December 2006, CEO Tony Jimenez was named the 2006 Vetrepreneur of the Year by Veteran's Business Journal.
