MicroTech Earns Prestigious CMMI Rating
Valuable Business Process Rating Milestone
Focused on Company's
Product and Service Development
New York, NY– January 22, 2010—Dedicated to the continuous improvement of its business processes and management efficiencies focused on customer satisfaction, MicroTech has received a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level (ML) 2 rating. The CMMI is an internationally recognized process improvement maturity model or collection of “best practices” for the development of products and services, enabling organizations to improve the predictability of budgets and schedules, incorporate lessons learned leading to continuous improvement, and provide transparency into lifecycle and engineering activities to ensure that customer expectations are consistently met.
CMMI ratings are obtained through appraisals conducted by Lead Appraisers that have received certification through Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The SEI works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to continually improve the processes used by organizations to develop products and services on time and within budget.
“It’s a real credit to the hard work and effort of the MicroTech team that we have attained such an important business process maturity milestone,” said Tony Jimenez, MicroTech President & CEO. “Our high quality assurance and engineering standards have always been recognized by our clients and vendors, and this well-regarded credential reinforces the value we place on increasing visibility into the organization's activities to help ensure that we not only meet but surpass customer expectations.”
CMMI ML 2 rated organizations are characterized by managed processes that are executed in accordance with policy; monitored, controlled and reviewed; and conducted by skilled people with adequate resources; and that produce controlled outputs.
MicroTech has a solid history of benchmark business processes based on industry best practices and quality-related credentials. The organization achieved certification in the world’s most widely used Quality Management System (QMS) standard — ISO 9001:2000 — in only its second year of operation, and became ISO 9001:2008 certified last year. Additionally, MicroTech’s executive management team is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certified. MicroTech is now pursuing ISO 20000 certification and a CMMI ML3 rating.
“The CMMI achievement reflects MicroTech’s ongoing commitment to continuous process improvement, with the goal of improving the consistency and quality of the products and services that we deliver to our customers”. Jimenez said.
