Vienna, VA – August 24, 2010—MicroTech, a leading technology systems integrator, announced today that it has opened an office in Huntsville, Alabama. The new MicroTech presence in Alabama will focus on enhanced customer service of key clients in the region, as well as expanding business development capabilities in a growing defense market. This is the fourth MicroTech regional office opening after originally basing the small business in the Washington, DC area in 2004.
One of America's small business success stories, MicroTech offers Systems Integration, Technology Solutions, and Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) primarily in government computing environments - managing over half-a-million tech users in the Public Sector daily. As a Prime Contractor on more-than-100 Federal projects and 20-plus contract vehicles, MicroTech offers over 500,000 technology products and services across the government.
"With the relocation of the Army Material Command from Washington to the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, we knew we had to have a strong presence there," said Tony Jimenez, MicroTech President & CEO. "The MicroTech office in Huntsville will primarily serve our Army customers, as well as develop new business in the region. The communities that we work in are important to us. In the Washington area, MicroTech has been recognized as a Top Corporate Philanthropist. We hope to do more than just pay taxes in Huntsville. We want to make a difference through jobs and other community support."
The Army Material Command headquarters is in the process of transferring to Redstone Arsenal via a 2005 decision of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The MicroTech Huntsville office is in direct support of the Redstone Arsenal and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) and AMCOM EXPRESS contract acquired by MicroTech in 2009. The secure MicroTech facility features a receptionist area, executive offices, employee workstations, conference room, server room, and a state-of-the-art UCC High-Definition (HD) Video Conferencing showcase.
Kent Caldwell is the office director at the Huntsville branch. Prior to joining MicroTech as the Vice President for Business Development, he was with Aranea Solutions as Program Director for the Joint Technical Data Integration (JTDI) Program, supporting the Warfighter. After 22 years in the U.S. Navy as an Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer, Caldwell retired and joined BAE Systems. He was also formerly with Boeing as Business Development Manager in Missile Defense.
The new MicroTech office reflects the organization's progressive efforts to expand its national presence - highly-skilled MicroTech professionals engage in collaborative relationships with customers, onsite now in 26 states.
"We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Huntsville business community," Jimenez said.
