MicroTech has secured another contract to expand the wireless infrastructure at the United States Academy Military at West Point. Under the most recent contract, MicroTech will expand the Distributed Antennae System (DAS) at West Point. This new contract continues a partnership between MicroTech and West Point’s Mission and Installation Contracting Command to build a strong IT infrastructure and a better learning environment for our nation’s future leaders at West Point. Back in 2013 MicroTech won the contract for the Network Wireless Lifecycle Deployment project at West Point. This provided wireless infrastructure (i.e., WiFi) installations and upgrades to the entire campus – encompassing over 400 facilities and associated outdoor areas. As a result, West Point has been quick to embrace and employ their new wireless capability.
Under the DAS contract, MicroTech will be expanding West Point’s WiFi network into several more academic buildings increasing West Point’s ability to maximize the use of digital education. Over the past few years, West Point has begun transitioning to interactive, digital education implementing The Army Learning Concept 2015’s mandate to “provide Soldiers and Leaders with more relevant, tailored, and engaging learning experiences.” http://www.ausa.org/publications/armymagazine/archive/2014/Documents/12December14/ManganielloStrab_Dec2014.pdf MicroTech is providing the infrastructure West Point needs to make this transition.
“MicroTech is honored to continue our strong relationship with the United States Military Academy at West Point,” said MicroTech President and CEO, Tony Jimenez, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel. “As an Army veteran, it gives me great satisfaction to know that MicroTech is giving these great men and women the tools and resources to achieve a better education that will be used to lead our nation in the future.”
